Are You A Liar?

This was a really interesting article to read! Do people really tell the average of 3 lies within 10 minutes of meeting someone? Well, a researcher composed an experiment to test this theory. He placed 121 people, split into 3 groups in a room and told them that they were going to have a converation for 10 minutes. While they were discussing each group would either have a goal of: competence, likable, and control. They were all videotaped and later pointed out the lies they told. 40% of the people claimed to have told no lies, while the other 60% reported some lies averaging to 3 lies during the 10 minute conversation. These lies were either subtle, exaggerations or outright lies. The most popular lie was feelings, like emotions and opinions. So overall, some people do lie an average of 3 lies in 10 minutes, but it doesn't mean everyone does. I liked how at the end of this article it states that without lies our social life would be a lot more painful and lieing shows what nice and well-adjusted people we are. This really made me think about lieing. I realized that yes, sometimes lieing might be better in some cases.
